Carolyn Cate Farah, 94, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Carolyn was the daughter of Rev. Burke and Viola Cate. She graduated from Tyner High School, class of 1946. Carolyn graduated from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tn. and Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore, Md. She also did graduate work at Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky. and Vanderbilt Hospital School of Nursing.

Carolyn was appointed by the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board, serving at the Gaza Baptist Hospital in the Middle East for 10 years. After returning to the United States and raising her family, she worked as a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital and retired after 13 years of service. Carolyn was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William H. Farah; parents, Rev. Burke and Viola Cate; sister, Maxine Taylor and her brother and sister-in-law, Norman (Martha) Cate.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Linda (Michael) Snell; son, John (Karissa) Farah; five grandchildren, David and Andrew Snell and James, Karlee and Lindsey Farah; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, in the chapel of Silverdale Baptist Church, 7236 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421, with Rev. Tony Walliser and Rev. Eddie Wilson officiating. Internment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lottie Moon Mission Offering through Silverdale Baptist Church, 7236 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
