China Anne McClain: 13-Year-Old Disney Star Covers 'Dynamite,' Plans To Rock Macy's Parade

Thanksgiving Q&A With Disney's China Anne McClain

13-year-old Disney star China Anne McClain has a lot to be thankful for this year -- in 2011, she's landed a starring role on Disney Channel hit A.N.T. Farm, become a YouTube sensation with her cover of Taio Cruz's "Dynamite," got signed with Hollywood Records, and scored a highly-coveted spot performing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. HuffPost High School chatted with the rising star and found out what else she's excited for this Thanksgiving (hint: it comes in a can).

How did you get to be in the Macy’s Day Parade?

I just came from [The Chicago Light Parade], and my manager told us about all these parades we have lined up. One of them was the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! This is the one that I was kind of freaking out over because I always watch it!

Besides being in the parade, what are your plans for Thanksgiving?

Well, I’m going home on Thanksgiving Day so I’m not quite sure if we’re really going to do a lot on the actual day. But we are going do Thanksgiving -- like actually have the food and all that kind of stuff! -- but maybe a little late.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food?

Umm, I’m going to have to say cranberry sauce.

Real cranberry sauce, or the kind you just get out of a can -– the canned stuff is totally my fave.

Really? The canned one? Actually the canned one’s really good.

It is delicious.

I like the real one, but yeah, I like the canned one better!

What are you thankful for this year?

Having a really great support system in my family. They’ve always been so supportive of me. And definitely yes, I’m going to have to say everything that’s been going on this year -- being so busy!

Cool. So the HuffPost High School team is obsessed with your cover of “Dynamite” –- are you going to be performing it in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?

Well, I was at first but now I’m singing a few other songs off the A.N.T. Farm soundtrack. But I did perform it for the show we were doing for Chicago Light Parade. I always really love to perform that song because it gets the crows going -- it’s a fun song. It’s the first song I ever performed on A.N.T. Farm, which is really cool!

Be sure to check out the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (and you can track the performers with the Macy's Parade app!). What are you most thankful for today? Tell us in the comments.
