Listen and groove to Eric Church's new single 'Desperate Man,' a collaboration with Ray Wylie Hubbard

Just try not to groove in your chair - or flat-out get on your feet and dance - to country music superstar Eric Church's new single "Desperate Man."

As previously reported, the bouncy anthem is the title track to the two-time Country Music Association Album of the Year winner's newly announced album, due out Oct. 5.

Not only does the album see Church again collaborating with producer Jay Joyce, but the title track also sees the hit-maker continuing his working relationship  with Oklahoma-Texas music icon Ray Wylie Hubbard. The Soper native co-wrote "Desperate Man" with Church.

Hubbard took to Twitter this morning to explain that the song's uproarious lyrics about fortune teller saying he didn't have a future was based on his own experiences, which may well be one of coolest, most Ray Wylie Hubbard-est things I've ever heard.

As previously reported, Church name-checked Hubbard on his 2015 song "Mr. Misunderstood," and Hubbard recruited Church to provide backing vocals on the title track to his latest album, "Tell the Devil I'm Getting There as Fast as I Can." Hubbard is an underground music legend, and it's great to see Church putting a little mainstream spotlight on the native Oklahoman's considerable songwriting talents.

Also as previously reported, Hubbard will play an Oklahoma City show July 26 at the Tower Theatre, 425 NW 23.
