Parking meter QR codes in La Mesa, a city in San Diego County, are linking to pornography sites. They’re supposed to link to the Park Smarter app, so you can pay for your parking over the phone.
The problem is if the app isn’t already open on your phone, it’ll pull up a wide range of web searches, from the Securities and Exchange Commission to pornography search sites.
Parking enforcement officers are working quickly to cover or remove the QR codes, and The City of La Mesa is in communication with the parking meter vendor to fix the issue.
