Steve Kroft apologizes for affair
The National Enquirer has dropped a bombshell story on - and about - 60 Minutes anchor/reporter veteran Steve Kroft.
The tabloid details a three-year affair Kroft, 69, who is married to journalist Jennet Conant, 55, has been having with New York lawyer Lisan Goines.
The CBS newsman first met Goines at a hotel in New York in 2011, according to the story. One thing led to another, from hotel romps to racy sexting.
In one text he wrote to her: "...let me devour you." And in another he said he'd been working late and ordered food, but would "rather be eating your pudding." Another detail: He liked to pour champagne on a certain body part of hers and drink it up.
Meet-ups between Kroft and Goines, who is also married, happened in New York and Washington.
In a statement to Page Six, Kroft confirmed the affair and made a public apology.
"I had an extramarital affair that was a serious lapse of personal judgment and extremely hurtful to my wife and family, and for that I have nothing but regret," Kroft said. "My wife and I are committed to each other and are working hard to get past this, and consider it a private matter."
Kroft and Conant have one son.
