CA state controller among those hurt in suspected DUI crash
California's state controller was among those hurt in a multi-car crash Friday that shut down the Posey Tube in Alameda for hours, officials said. State Controller Betty Yee was being driven, along with her husband, in an unmarked California Highway Patrol car when they were rear-ended by a Nissan sedan. The CHP car was then pushed forward into a Toyota Camry. Yee, her husband and a CHP officer were hospitalized with injuries but are expected to survive, officials said. Aaron George, the Nissan driver, was hospitalized with major injuries and is facing DUI charges, officials said. He is suspected of being under the influence of marijuana. The Toyota driver was not hurt. The Posey Tube, an underwater tunnel that connects Oakland and Alameda, was closed for about two hours and reopened around 5:20 p.m., CHP said. Yee serves as the state's top accountant and audits several state programs.
