Urban Triage’s 2nd Annual Harvest Festival will return this Saturday, Sept. 16, 2-8 p.m., at the Linda and Gene Farley Center for Peace, Justice, and Sustainability. The theme this year will be “Wild Wild West.”
Urban Triage has made impactful strides in being a resource on community housing and wellness over the last few years, and its agriculture programs have certainly been a highlight of that work. The work done by the organization focuses on community wellness as a path to even more favorable outcomes such as prosperity in business, more awareness and engagement with local issues, and less crime due to lack of resources and access.
The strides made on the agricultural side have resulted in Urban Triage’s ever-increasing ability to provide fresh, quality food to families while also bringing them in on the process of growing food, as well as doing other projects such as installing garden beds at local residences for community participants.
The upcoming Harvest Festival returns to the Farley Center, 2299 Spring Rose Rd. in Verona, which was able to host almost 500 people last year, and this year will have many of the same opportunities for entertainment and fun. The theme of “Wild Wild West” calls for those who want to participate in the outfit contest to come out in their best Wild West-inspired boots and hats for cash prizes.
There will also be plenty of activities for kids including stilt walkers, face painting, jugglers, a bouncy house, and much more. DJ Pain 1 will play music at the event which will also include a performance by Milwaukee R&B jazz band Cigarette Break, along with free food and drinks. Shuttle services will be provided for those who may have difficulty with transportation to the Farley Center.
The celebration is sure to bring many out to both be in community and take part in the rewards from the efforts of the agriculture team and the people who support them. Anyone looking to show their support as well does not have to hesitate as Urban Triage is still looking for sponsors, volunteers, and donors for the event to help facilitate the essential work the organization looks to do in the community.
