See ZACK DE LA ROCHA join RUN THE JEWELS in L.A., perform standing for first time since 2022 injury

Rage Against the Machine frontman back on two feet

Zack de La Rocha is back on his feet! Last night (October 12th) the famously reclusive Rage Against the Machine frontman made a surprise appearance with Run the Jewels during their show at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles — and best of all, he was standing.

De la Rocha has stayed out of the public eye since Rage Against the Machine canceled their 2023 touring plans after the rapper tore his left Achilles tendon in an onstage accident in July 2022. The RATM frontman had forged ahead through that year's tour, performing seated on an amp center stage, but due to the severity of the injury — only 8 percent of his tendon was reportedly left intact — he took 2023 off to focus on healing and rehab.

The de facto "third member" of Run the Jewels due to his many guest appearances, de la Rocha joined the rap duo in L.A. for "Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)," off 2014's Run the Jewels 2. Check out fan-filmed footage above. You can watch pro-shot video of the full show on Veeps.

RATM are set to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame during the November 3rd ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
