Fire officials working the Anvil and Flat fires say the wet weather the area has been receiving has created unsafe working conditions. Officials anticipate a break in the wet weather on Sunday, followed by more rain and then a few days of drying.

During the dry weather periods officials say that fire managers will take advantage and make additional progress on the fires with heavy equipment work.

Crews will continue to install erosion control features along dozer lines on Saturday. Officials say while the ground in the area is too saturated for heavy equipment, hand crews will continue improving drainage on dozer line around China Mountain.
