Santa Rosa Speed Stop Saves the Day as Police Uncover Loaded Firearm and Arrest DriverSource: Santa Rosa Police

Yesterday, Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) officers found a loaded firearm in a vehicle during a regular traffic stop. According to an SRPD Facebook post, the chain of events began when officers saw a Dodge pickup, going roughly 50mph on Sonoma Avenue and D Street, surpassing the indicated 35mph speed limit.

The vehicle was pulled over quickly for speeding, with the driver identified as 21-year-old Frank Pomilia from Redwood Valley. The resulting investigation uncovered two AR-15 rifle magazines and an unregistered, loaded 9mm polymer 80 handgun hidden in the center console of Pomilia's vehicle.

Consequently, Pomilia was arrested and jailed at the Sonoma County Jail for possession of a loaded firearm in a public place and possession of a loaded and concealed firearm in a vehicle.
