Next week, Greensky Bluegrass guitarist and singer, Dave Bruzza, will embark on his first-ever solo tour, kicking off a select Midwest run with an Oct. 12 appearance at the Wealthy Theater in Grand Rapids, Mich. Following the opener, Bruzza will remain in The Great Lakes State to visit the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks on Oct. 13, before consecutive City Winery dates in Chicago and St. Louis, on Oct. 14 and 15, respectively. Then, Bruzza’a Unsafe At Any Speed band will join the musician for two shows in Colorado on the Oct. 20 and 21.

Most of the venues hosting Bruzza may be familiar to Greensky Bluegrass fans, as the jamband favorites have performed previously at all but the newly-christened City Winery in St. Louis. The Chicago date on Oct. 14 is of particular note, as it’s slated as a special brunch performance and a precursor to the Phish show scheduled that evening in the Windy City. The two Unsafe band stops will be the only Colorado appearances for 2023.

“It’s going to be fun and terrifying for me,” Bruzza said, of his solo tour debut. “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to do this.”

As for the repertoire, Bruzza said he has a few ideas, ranging from his familiar influences to more obscure nuggets. With Unsafe At Any Speed, he’s more likely to lean into his surf rock side, showcased on the Heart of Santa Cruz 45 rpm Bruzza released in the spring of 2022. And there’s always the possibility of a visit from a surprise guest. “Anything can happen,” added Bruzza.
