WEST FARGO, N.D. — After getting caught up on what's new in agriculture at the 2023 Big Iron Farm show, you can get "Caught Up in the Country," at a free concert.

After the farm show on Wednesday, Sept. 13, Big Iron is hosting a free concert featuring country artist Rodney Atkins at the grandstand on the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo, North Dakota.

“So we thought the concert would be something that would entice people to stay around after the show, kind of draw them into continuing with communication with vendors, or just hanging out kind of embracing the ag industry,” said Skylar Siegel, event coordinator with the Red River Valley Fair.

The main attraction is Rodney Atkins, with songs such as “If You’re Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows),” “Take a Back Road,” and “Caught Up in the Country.”

Opening for Atkins is Zach Thomas at 6 p.m.

Although the concert is free, the event is selling VIP tables — $1,000 for eight seats that come with food and special access to bathrooms, a bar and souvenirs.

The concert and VIP tables are outdoors so the hope is for good weather.

Also different this year, the fairgrounds has transformed its Education Center. Instead of being used for Big Iron displays, it now has educational displays from ag organizations that are up year-round.

“We are upgrading that building to provide ag education to the public and also offer school field trips and other trips out to the fairgrounds,” Siegel said.

Another change for Big Iron visitors is that there will be a food vendor near the entrance of the show, away from the rest of the food court.

Big Iron opens Sept. 12 and runs through Sept. 14. Admission and parking are free.
