Country music legend Lee Greenwood will perform at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre in Montgomery, Alabama, on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. As part of his American Spirit Tour, Greenwood will be singing his signature song, “God Bless The USA,” along with other fan favorites, including “Somebody’s Gonna Love You,” “Going, Going, Gone,” “Dixie Road,” and more. Fans will not want to miss this memorable night of entertainment celebrating Greenwood’s iconic career. Tickets for the event are available for purchase in person or online at the  MPAC box office.  Veterans get a discount by using code USA. The wait is over for Montgomery's fans of Bret Michaels for his show at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre. The rocker and frontman for the '80s group Poison was scheduled to perform Wednesday, July 26. According to MPAC, that date's been changed to Friday, Nov. 10. Michaels is currently on his Pardi-Gras tour with Night Ranger, Jefferson Starship, Mark McGraff (Sugar Ray) and Steve Augeri (formerly of Journey). This past weekend, he held three days of those concerts in Mansfield, Mass., Gilford, N.H., and a "slam packed" one Sunday in Camden, N.J. "It’s been great," Michaels said to the Advertiser prior to postponement. "This has been like a Parti-Gras 2.0, then there’s individual shows in between.” Tickets purchased for the July 26 show will be honored in November, according to MPAC. Ticket prices range from $57 to $97.

Veterans Appreciation Week at Zoo

During Veteran's Appreciation Week Nov. 5-11 at the Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum, all veterans, active duty military personnel, and their dependent family members receive a 50% discount on regular daytime admission.  Participants must provide a valid military identification to receive discount. The zoo is at 2301 Coliseum Parkway.

Montgomery will hold its Veterans Day Celebration on Nov. 11, 11 a.m. at Riverwalk Stadium, 200 Coosa St.

Montgomery Whitewater partners with Girls on the Run for Fall 5K

Montgomery Whitewater is joining forces with Girls on the Run of South Central Alabama to host a Fall 5K run on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 8 a.m. The event culminates a ten-week program that teaches life skills to girls in third through eighth grade by engaging in fun running games and dynamic discussions that foster confidence, build peer connections and encourage community service. Participation in the 5K event is open to the public and all proceeds from the event will benefit Girls on the Run of South Central Alabama. Advance online registration is $25 and day-of registration is $30. In addition to the race, daily whitewater activities will also be available and can be purchased online in advance or in person at the park.   • Blues in the Night: February 8 – March 3, 2024: The soul of the blues wails out full and strong in Blues in the Night, a scorching, Tony-nominated musical! The 26 hot and torchy numbers tell of the sweet, sexy, and sorrowful experiences three women have with the lying, cheating snake of a man who does them wrong. Glorious songs from Bessie Smith, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Alberta Hunter, Jimmy Cox, Ida Cox, and more tell of the pain and misery of life and love — and the dogged determination to get through it all — that is the essence of the blues.

  • Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery: April 18 – May 12. Get your deerstalker cap on — the play’s afoot! Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson must crack the mystery of “The Hound of the Baskervilles” before a family curse dooms its newest heir. Does a wild hellhound prowl the moors of Devonshire? Can our heroes discover the truth in time? Join the fun as Holmes and Watson face a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit as five actors deftly portray more than 40 characters.   • Zelda In the Backyard: June 13 – June 30. When Libby inherits a wrecked 1961 Rolls Royce, she sets off on a journey to reassemble the car and pieces of the past her father left behind. In honor of her Alabama roots, she names the car after Zelda Fitzgerald. A little broken herself, Libby finds herself with a new understanding of marriage and family. From the playwright of Gee’s Bendand White LightningZelda in the Backyard is a story of love and loss, and all the roads in between. World Premiere: This play was developed through ASF’s 2022 Southern Writers Festival of New Plays.

  • Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat: July 11 – August 11. One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a humorous retelling of the Biblical story of Joseph, his 11 brothers, his father Jacob, and the coat of many colors. Follow Joseph’s journey from bondage to becoming Pharaoh’s right-hand man to his ultimate reunion with his family.
