Rita A. DeLeon, 83, of Wichita Falls passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023.

A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. followed by a vigil service and visitation until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Wichita Falls with Rev. Joseph Lim, celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Rita was born on November 2, 1940 to the late David C. and Rita (Arias) Diaz in Wichita Falls. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School and later attended nursing school to pursue a career as a registered nurse. Rita worked 45 years at the Wichita Falls General Hospital. She met the love of her life, Brigido DeLeon Jr. while he was serving in the military. The couple married on February 24, 1953 and the couple spent the next 53 years together, before his passing in 2016. 

Rita was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Club Capri. She volunteered many hours to the club in supporting the education and wellbeing of the Hispanic Community. Also, Rita taught classes to educate people with diabetes. Rita enjoyed cooking and being with her family, especially being “NaNa” to her four grandchildren. She will be truly missed by many family and friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Rita was preceded in death by a son, Ricardo Paul De Leon; sister, Delia Martinez; and brother, David Diaz Jr.

She is survived by a son, Joe S. DeLeon and wife, Jackie; daughter-in-law, Angelica DeLeon; six grandchildren, Chloe DeLeon, Noah DeLeon, Elissa Velasquez, Ricardo DeLeon, Julian DeLeon and Desiree Bradford; and four sisters, Anita Wilson, Eloisa Mendoza, Angelina Lonon and Dolores Hernandez.
