Nicaraguan zoo presents rare albino puma cub

STORY: Mauricio Espinoza, head of Environmental Education at the Thomas Belt Zoo, said the young puma would be four months old on November 20.

“It is something amazing, unparalleled, and we must all take care of it and protect it so that it has a good life and good health,” visitor Maria Jose Hurtado said.

According to the zoo staff, Itzae was in good health condition, weighing more than 13 pounds.

Albinism is a genetic condition characterized by a lack of the protective pigment melanin in the hair, skin and eyes.
