Vada Mae Anderson, 75, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 4:46 a.m., Saturday, November 17th, 2018 suddenly, at her home.
Vada was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 16, 1943, a daughter of Louise (Johnson) and Lester “Buss” E. Walline.
Vada attended McPherson public schools, McPherson Jr. High , and graduated from McPherson High School in 1961. In 1972 she attended Sidney’s Cosmetology School, Hutchinson, Kansas.
She was a member of New Gottland Lutheran Church, rural McPherson
Vada was a homemaker and farm wife and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She was a licensed cosmetologist and later started working for Sterling Drug of McPherson and was a Production Operator. Through the years she continued her work when the business was sold to Sanofi Winthrop and retired from Abbott.
Vada was a member of The V. F. W. Auxillary and McPherson Tops Club. Vada enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, especially wintering in Texas, crafting, playing bingo, crossword-scratch off tickets, spider solitaire, her pets and talking on the phone.
Vada Mae Walline was united in marriage to John L. Anderson on July 30, 1960 in New Gottland Lutheran Church, rural McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Wichita, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of five children, two sons and three daughters, Daphne, Scott, Julie, Kris and Tonya. In 1964 the family moved back to rural McPherson, then moved to the current family farm in 1968.
She is survived by her husband John Anderson, of McPherson, Kansas; her children, Daphne Allen and her husband Kip, of Soda Springs, Idaho, Scott Anderson and his wife Cheryl, of McPherson, Kansas, Julie Anderson, of Galva, Kansas, Kris Anderson, of McPherson, Kansas, Tonya Qualls and her husband Troy, of Columbus, Ohio; her siblings Guy Cunningham and his wife Pam, of Bloomington, Indiana; Becky Hogue, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wayne Morrow and his wife Julie, of Norwich, Kansas.
17 grandchildren – Josse Allen, Chantelle Cowan(Will), Tanner Allen(Amanda), Damien Allen(Kathy), Trevor Allen, Ashley Lawless(Aaron), Amber Anderson, Abby Anderson, Allison Anderson, Audra Anderson, Matt Shriver (Maddie ), Mellissa Shriver, Zachary Anderson, Shyanne Anderson(Dakota Cody), Issaac Anderson, Morgan Cassidy (Matt), Madison Qualls. 11 -Great-grandchildren – Kirah, Kianah, Moryah, Karter, Shaela, Sage, Kinzley, Zoe, Trenton, Braxton, Mason.
Vada was preceded in death by her parents; her mom Ellinore Morrow; her brother Edward Cunningham and her grandson Gerald Allen.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Gottland Lutheran Church, rural McPherson, Kansas.
Funeral service will be at the New Gottland Lutheran Church, rural McPherson at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 24th, 2018 with Reverend Harry Grinstad officiating.
Burial will be at the New Gottland Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural McPherson, Kansas.
