JACK C. BLACK, 87, of Barboursville, W.Va., devoted and loving husband of Virginia Call Black, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at home after a long and courageous battle with Dementia.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Rev. Greg Markins. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.
He was born November 27, 1935, son of Elijah and Stella Marie Cooper Black of Milton, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by one loving son, Jeff Black of Barboursville, W.Va.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Virginia Call Black; his loving and devoted son, Chris Black (Diane); two loving and special grandchildren, Shawn Black of Charleston, W.Va. and Sarah Black Towe of Cornelius, N.C.; two step-grandchildren, Josh Perry (Sarah) and Phillip Perry; 11 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Braylah and Kelton Black, Jack Robinson, Grant and Makala Towe, Taylor, Daniel, Jack, Allie and Sam Perry; also, sister, Barbara Carey of Lesage, W.Va. and Wanda Foster of Milton, W.Va.; Rosalene Fox (David) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jack accepted Christ as his Savior in August 2015. He was a faithful member of Doc Ray Memorial Bible Sunday School Class at Steel Memorial United Methodist Church in Barboursville, W.Va. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War. Jack retired from United Parcel Service, the second to retire in W.Va.
For many years, he loved restoring old cars. Our sincere thanks to our families and friends for all their visits and food, also Jack's friends at Wallace Funeral Home, his dedicated staff of Home Care Nursing Care from the VA, Dr. Allmond, Caleb, Katy, Lydia Pounsey, and Gayle Ferguson, his private care nurses and caregivers, We love you all!
Friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jeff Black Scholarship Fund at Marshall University, Huntington City Mission, or Hospice of Huntington.
