KROQ/FM 106.7 just announced that rock band 311 will step in to replace Red Hot Chili Peppers at the sold-out 32nd Annual Almost Acoustic Christmas at Kia Forum in Inglewood on Saturday, Dec. 9.

On Tuesday, Dec. 5, RHCP took to social media to announce that it would no longer be able to participate in KROQ’s holiday shindig due to a member of the band sustaining an undisclosed injury.

“It is with deep regret that we will not be able to perform this weekend at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas,” the social post read. “A band member was injured, preventing us from being able to perform for at least 6 weeks. However, RHCP and KROQ are excited to make it up to you on March 2, 2024 at Kia Forum. So, have a great time this weekend and hang on to your ticket.”

While KROQ offered full refunds to ticketholders for 48 hours following this announcement and RHCP swiftly announced the makeup show for those that held on to tickets, the radio station called for backup and 311 answered.

A longtime KROQ band with hits like “Down,” “Amber,” “Love Song,” “All Mixed Up” and many more in regular rotation over the last two decades, 311 fits right in alongside the other performers including Garbage, The Offspring, Portugal. The Man, Bleachers, Cannons, Lovejoy, Bakar and The Beaches.

Throughout KROQ’s AAC history, bands have stepped in to help the station out when someone has had to suddenly exit the bill. No Doubt stepped up in 2014 when Bono of U2 was injured during a bike accident and was left unable to play the gig and last year, Social Distortion rose to the occasion when Yeah Yeah Yeah’s had to pull out due to illness.
