Last year, Permian Basin Comic Con X held its first December show with a holiday themed convention.

The show turned out to be a success and will be back this week for its second edition in Midland.

This year’s Permian Basin Comic Con X: Holiday Edition will take place from Dec. 8-10 at the Horseshoe Arena featuring plenty of celebrity guests, exhibitors, cosplay and panel discussions.

Permian Basin Comic Con X will still be holding its usual spring convention in March.

While attendance for last year’s first holiday edition weren’t as high compared to the March show, event organizer Chris Slatosch was still impressed with last year’s turnout.

“Last year was great,” Slatosch said. “I think last year’s version was only about 10-20 percent of attendance difference from this show and the March show so it wasn’t bad.”

Highlighting the guest list at this year’s convention includes three actors from the cult classic Hocus Pocus with Vinessa Shaw, Jason Marsden and Omri Katz.

Among other roles, Marsden is notable for doing the voice of Max in 1995’s A Goofy Movie.

“We brought in Jason Marsden because he was Max in A Goofy Movie so we’re pretty excited about that,” Slatosch said. “We’re also pretty excited about the Hocus Pocus group. We went back to that agency and told them that people were pretty excited about Hocus Pocus and asked who else they could give us, so we added Vanessa Shaw and Omri and they’ve been pretty big. The announcement was pretty big. We’ve been seeing traction any time we’ve been pushing them.”

Also joining the list of celebrities is Matt Hill from Cartoon Network’s Ed, Edd and Eddy as well as Jason Douglass who played Tobin in AMC’s The Walking Dead, David Yost (best known from playing Billy in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers).

Other celebrities in attendance will include Justin Briner, Cynthia Cranz, Jay Goede, Ian Sinclair, Linda Young, Lindsay Seidel, Luci Christian, Michelle Rojas, Sonny Strait and Tiffany Vollmer.

Of course, with this being a holiday-themed comic con, there will be different Christmas activities going on throughout the weekend including a Christmas Ornament Decorating Activity, Free Grinch Photos, as well as a Donuts with Santa and Bluey Saturday morning.

This week’s convention will also include a performance from the Midland High School Orchestra as well as an All Ages Cosplay Contest, an MVSK Dances Performance and a VIP Mixer.
