Sound check: I Fight Dragons, The Giving Moon and NYE at The Piazza

The Giving Moon

West Suburban genre-twisting alt-rock trio The Giving Moon ‒ Sean Seales, Adam Suto and Nathan Melville ‒ headlines a two-set show at Martyrs’ this weekend, bringing deep cuts from its 10-plus-year catalog and hits from the band’s latest release “Bloom.”

Happily ever after ...

With charmingly playful and relatable songs punctuated with 8-bit flourishes, poppy chiptune rock band I Fight Dragons headlines Bottom Lounge Saturday to write the final chapter of the band’s adventure for now. Hailing originally from Chicago and the North Shore, the geek-chic band heads out on a hiatus after the weekend’s show, which also features Jennifer Hall and Boy Meets Robot.

Music Through the Decades

Afterlife, Swizzle Steve and The Piazza host a celebration of music and videos from the ’80s through today to keep guests dancing into the new year. Two buffets will be on hand to keep your energy up, raffles will be drawn throughout the night, and 2023 will end with a balloon drop, champagne toast and pizza buffet.
