WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — With no organized fireworks or celebration planned for New Year’s Eve in Wilmington, people looking to ring in 2024 with a bang will have to look elsewhere around the Cape Fear.

Down the New Hanover County coast will be the Island of Lights New Year’s Eve Celebration. It’ll be held at Ocean Front Park in Kure Beach. The annual celebration will feature a DJ dance party, with party favors available for a small fee.

The fun kicks off at 9:00 p.m. with the beach ball drop happening at midnight followed by a big fireworks display.

If blueberries are more of your speed, and you don’t want to wait until midnight to celebrate 2024, you can venture to Burgaw.

Their sixth annual Blueberry Drop will take place at 7:00 p.m. (midnight Greenwich Mean Time). Ace Party Band will provide live music beginning at 5:00 p.m., with a fireworks display following the ball drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Just outside of the Cape Fear, across the border in Horry County, will be the Myrtle Beach NYE fireworks at the Market Common.

The event will take place from 9:00 p.m. through midnight. Tickets are required for all attendees, regardless of age.
