ZZ Top’s Eliminators vs. Rush’s Rush – Hard Rock Football League, Round One

ZZ Top's Texas Eliminators will be involved in a battle of contrasting styles and substance against Rush's Toronto Rush in round one of the first-ever Hard Rock Football League championship.

With the NFL season kicking off this month, we’ve decided to team up with Loudwire to create teams for 16 other great bands -- and let you decide which squad deserves to win the first annual Hard Rock Football League championship.

Of course, ZZ Top's outsized personality -- yes, this squad will arrive at the stadium aboard a hoopty-car space shuttle -- is matched by its game-changing mix of scalding Texas blues rock and lip-smacking double entendre. So, the more-cerebral Rush might seem the underdog, but a certain selection committee in Cleveland learned never to underestimate this group or its rabid fanbase. Late in games, they tend to wear down the competition with legendary narratives from '2112,' 'Hemispheres' and 'Clockwork Angels.'

So who gets your betting money — and more importantly, your support — the Eliminators or the Rush? The winner of the Hard Rock Football League will be announced on Sept. 30.
