Atheism

On atheism: If you can’t touch, smell, hear, see or taste something, it’s only theory or it doesn’t exist.

I’m calling about the person who tried to explain the nonexistence of God by the two words “carbon dating.” One question: Where did carbon come from?

I am the atheist who called about carbon dating. I want to say to the first caller that I’m not really concerned about the eternity of my soul, because I’m an atheist. OK? I believe that when I die, I die. That’s it. No big thing.

Big bang theory

The big bang theory is almost irrefutable, but still not proof. As a person who’s trying to be a Christian and also a former science teacher, I believe the big bang theory is probably true, and it that’s the way creation began, it’s because God made it happen that way.

PC, not brave

Many people (are) calling in saying Mayor Coombs is really, really brave for what he did. Why? All he did was follow the politically-correct rhetoric of the left. … He’s just going along with the masses. What would be tough is if he went against the politically correct, and not with them.

Thanks for shoveling

A big thank you to the two teenage boys who live across the street who didn’t have to go to school and instead shoveled all the snow off my driveway and walk. I’m one of those senior citizens. It was just greatly appreciated. So thank you to all of the teenagers who shoveled driveways and walks.

Riley Ljungdahl story

Thank you, Times-Call, for running such a wonderful article on Riley Ljungdahl and for pointing out the support she’s getting from Noodles & Co. here in Longmont. I applaud the company’s focus on helping their local community.

CSU, CU different

We have one student at CSU and one student at CU. … CSU President Tony Frank has kept us parents and students informed on the necessary tuition hikes and what CSU is doing to keep tuition as low as possible, including not raising salaries. The CU president, on the other hand, has not offered us any communication on how CU is working to keep rates down but in fact is raising them for administrative salaries. What a difference in these two schools.

Snow barrier

I’m calling about the city cleaning the streets. I thought that was a good idea. I’m … elderly. My neighbor cleaned by driveway, the city cleaned the middle of the street, but how do we get to it? There’s a six-foot wide, two-foot high snow barrier out there. So I don’t know if cleaning the middle of the street does that much good.

Hire a vet

I saw in the paper that some cities are having parades for the vets of the Iraq war. That’s good. Even better would be to hire a vet.
