George Street Playhouse presents "Ibsen's Ghost". (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse presents Ibsen's Ghost by Charles Busch from January 16 through February 4, 2024. Based on a few irrefutable facts, the play tells a tall (and hilarious) tale of the legendary Norwegian playwright's wife Suzannah the week after the great man's state funeral. The production is directed by Carl Andress.

Thursday, January 18 - Count Basie Center for the Arts presents Rick Springfield + Richard Marx. (RED BANK, NJ) -- Count Basie Center for the Arts presents Rick Springfield + Richard Marx on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 7:30pm in the Hackesack Meridian Health Theatre. Thursday, January 18 - MPAC presents DRUMline Live. (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- DRUMLine Live, the show-stopping production created by the musical team behind the hit movies, Drumline and Drumline: A New Beat, comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 7:00pm. The Growing Stage presents "The Big Bad Musical". (NETCONG, NJ) -- The Growing Stage: The Children's Theatre of New Jersey presents The Big Bad Musical - a howling courtroom comedy studio series all youth production from January 18-21, 2024. Friday, January 19 - bergenPAC presents Ilana Glazer. (ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) presents comedian Ilana Glazer on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 8:00pm. Ilana co-created and co-starred in the critically acclaimed series Broad City.

Algonquin Arts Theatre presents "DEATHtrap". (MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Algonquin Arts Theatre presents DEATHtrap, a murder mystery by Ira Levin, from January 19-28, 2024. Sidney Bruhl would do anything to publish the next great play. He would even kill for it. This dark comedy, thriller will have audiences laughing one moment and screaming in terror the next as Sidney discovers he may not be the only murderer in the room.

Saturday, January 20 - The Laurie Berkner Band returns to Princeton with Full Band "Greatest Hits" Show and a Solo Show. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Legendary children's musician Laurie Berkner and The Laurie Berkner Band are thrilled to return to Laurie's hometown with a "Greatest Hits" concert for families on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the McCarter Theatre Center (91 University Place) in Princeton. Showtime is 3:00pm.

Saturday, January 20 - State Theatre New Jersey presents Dinosaur World Live!. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Dinosaur World Live! on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1:00pm and 5:00pm. This roarsome interactive show for the whole family follows an intrepid explorer across uncharted territories to discover a pre-historic world of astonishing dinosaurs. Tickets range from $19-$49.

Saturday, January 20 - Talking about Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers with Southern Accents. A team of ace musicians from the Nashville studio and touring circuit, Southern Accents recreates the music, style, and sound of the late great singer-songwriter-guitarist Tom Petty. Whether it be T.P.'s solo material or that which he created with his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, the Heartbreakers, Southern Accents will present their signature immaculate precision and wildly contagious enthusiasm on Jan. 20 at URSB Carteret Performing Arts & Events Center.

Affable, charismatic and one of a kind, Fortune Feimster is a standup comedian, writer and actor who uses her confessional comedy to bring people together. Through laughter and storytelling, Fortune shows audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and sexual orientations that common ground is only a joke or two away.

Sunday, January 21 - Lizzie Rose Music Room presents CD Release Party for Chris O'Leary Band. (TUCKERTON, NJ ) -- Devastatingly soulful vocalist, dynamic harmonica master and superlative songwriter Chris O'Leary will celebrate the January 12 release of his Alligator Records debut album, The Hard Line, with a live performance at the Lizzie Rose Music Room in Tuckerton on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Sunday, January 21 - Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company presents Red Firecrackers at Grunin Center. (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company will present Red Firecrackers, the story of Nian and the origin Chinese Lunar New Year customs on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at The Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts in Toms River. Showtime is 1:00pm.

Sunday, January 21 - State Theatre New Jersey Presents Audra McDonald in Concert. (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Tony®, Grammy®, and Emmy® Award-winning artist, Audra McDonald in Concert on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 7:30pm. McDonald is joined by music director and pianist, Andy Einhorn. Tickets range from $49-$99.

Monday, January 22 - Vivid Stage presents screenplay reading of "Jacqueline Remembers All of This". (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, will present a free screenplay reading of Jacqueline Remembers All of This by David Lee White, Dave Maulbeck and Maribeth Theroux on Monday January 22, 2024 at 7:00pm. This project will be the first feature film produced by Vivid Stage, and is adapted from their production of Blood: A Comedy by David Lee White.

Thursday, January 18 - New Jersey Symphony Presents Concert Weekend Examining "The American Dream". (NEWARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Symphony will present a concert program called "The American Dream," focused on the many facets that make up the long-held idea of the American Dream, the stories of those who have immigrated to America, and the differences found in the American experience through different cultures.

Thursday, January 18- Westminster Conservatory Noontime Recitals resume January 18th. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will resume with a recital of music for solo piano and piano four-hands on Thursday, January 18 at 12:15pm. The performers are Westminster Conservatory faculty members Galina Prilutskaya and Inessa Gleyzerova Shindel. The recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church (61 Nassau Street) in Princeton. It is open to the public free of charge.

Friday, January 19 - The Princeton Folk Music Society presents Poor Man's Gambit. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Princeton Folk Music Society presents Poor Man's Gambit, a Philadelphia-based Irish music band, on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Christ Congregation Church (and available via live-stream). The multi-instrumentalist group comprises Deirdre Lockman (fiddle and vocals), Corey Purcell (button accordion, cittern, bodhran, vocals, and dance), and Federico Betti (guitar and fiddle). Showtime is 8:00pm.

Friday, January 19 - American Dream presents Latin star Soleil. (EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ) -- Latin star Soleil will electrify the American Dream Stage in Court A on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 7:00pm. Soleil, who boasts over 1.5 million Instagram followers, is best known for her hit singles: "Pa Fuera", "No me arrepiento" and "Pa' la calle".

Saturday, January 20 - Newton Theatre presents The Genesis Show. (NEWTON, NJ) -- After almost eight years, The Genesis Show returns to The Newton Theatre on Saturday, January 20, 2024. The Genesis Show is the only Genesis Tribute Band in the US dedicated to recreating the Phil Collins era of Genesis, specifically focusing on the '76-'82 Tours. With two drummers and a ton of vintage gear, The Genesis Show faithfully delivers the Genesis live experience. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Saturday, January 20 - Light of Day WinterFest 2024 Announces Lineup For Bob's Birthday Bash. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Light of Day WinterFest 2024, the annual music festival taking place throughout January in Asbury Park, Deal, Red Bank, Montclair and New York, has announced the lineup for Bob's Birthday Bash on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre At The Count Basie Center For The Arts in Red Bank.

Saturday, January 20 - The Mercury Brothers to Celebrate Release of New Single and Limited Edition Craft Beer. (TINTON FALLS, NJ) -- The Mercury Brothers will celebrate the release of their new single, "The Fight" on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Twin Lights Brewing in Tinton Falls. The brewery will be making a limited edition Mercury Brothers beer and the band will use the show to help raise funds and items for The Project Matters.  Joining them on the bill is Olivia Bec.

Saturday, January 20 - Centenary Stage Company's Winter Thaw Festival presents Reverie Road. (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company's Winter Thaw Festival of concerts continues with a performance by Reverie Road on Saturday, January 20 at 8:00pm. The concert will take place at CSC's Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center. The band will share their fresh, eclectic celtic combination, featuring fiddler Winifred Horan and accordionist John Williams (founding Solas members) alongside former Gaelic Storm fiddler, Katie Grennan and Jazz and Raga pianist Utsav Lal (Young Steinway Artist). This combination is made up of four of today's leading traditional folk artists who have performed for international audiences from studios to stages over the last three decades.

Sunday, January 21 - RVCC to Present Concert Featuring Pianist Abraham Alinea. (BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design Department will present a concert featuring pianist Abraham Alinea, January 21, 2024 at 2:00pm. The event, part of the MOZAIKA Concert Series' current season, will be held in the Welpe Theatre at the College's Branchburg campus.

Sunday, January 21 - New Jersey Youth Chorus Presents Winter Concert. (NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ) -- Nearly two hundred choristers in the New Jersey Youth Chorus will present a Winter Concert on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Ridge Performing Arts Center in Basking Ridge. Tickets are $20/Adults and $15/Students and Seniors, available at NJYC.org. Showtime is 4:00pm.

Sunday, January 21 - Princeton Makes' Java Jam to feature The Fészer Band. (PRINCETON, NJ) -- Princeton Makes, a Princeton-based artist cooperative, will feature the Fészer Band at its monthly Java Jam, to be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Princeton Makes artist studios and art market in the Princeton Shopping Center. Showtime is 4:00pm.

THEATRE

Music Mountain Theatre presents "Lend Me a Tenor". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre opens their 2024 season with the Tony award winning comedy, Lend Me a Tenor, weekends from January 12-28, 2024. The play is set in September of 1934 and we see the Cleveland Grand Opera Company's gala season opener, centered on world-famous tenor Tito Morelli, performing as Canio in "Pagliacci," his greatest role. But the opera is jeopardized when Morelli falls into a drunken stupor.

Westfield Community Players Presents "God Of Carnage". (WESTFIELD, NJ) -- The Westfield Community Players presents "God of Carnage", a dark comedy with five performances from January 13-27, 2024. After an altercation between two young boys results in an injury, the two sets of parents get together with the objective to discuss and resolve the incident in a civilized manner. As the evening progresses, however, the parents become more childish, the "civilized" meeting devolves into utter chaos.

WHATCo to Hold Auditions for "Deadly Dessert Championship". (WEST HUDSON, NJ) -- The West Hudson Arts & Theater Co (WHATCo) will host open auditions for its annual dinner theater fundraiser, Deadly Dessert Championship, an original murder mystery written and directed by local award-winning playwright, author, and WHATCo Board Member Allyssa Hynes. Auditions will be held in person at the Theater at WHATCo, 15 Frank E. Rodgers Blvd. South, Harrison, NJ on Tuesday, January 16th and Wednesday, January 17th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Call backs (if needed) will be January 19th.

Black Box presents reading of "The Lady From Dubuque" as part of Edward Albee: From A to Zoo Series. (TEANECK, NJ) -- In association with The Estate of Edward Albee, Black Box PAC presents a reading of 1980's The Lady From Dubuque on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Debonair Music Hall (1409 Queen Anne Road b/w State Street and Walraven Drive) in Teaneck as part of their Edward Albee: From A To Zoo, An Exclusive Stage Reading Series of Edward Albee's Plays.

Black Box to present Staged Reading of "Life After Warsaw: The World of Isaac Bashevis Singer". (TEANECK, NJ) -- Local playwright and author I.M. Gurin's brand new play, Life After Warsaw: The World of Isaac Bashevis Singer, will receive a staged reading on Thursday, January 18th at Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck. Presented by Black Box Studios, this event is FREE to attend, with reservations strongly requested at www.blackboxpac.com. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Haddonfield Plays & Players to Presents Monty Python's "Spamalot". (HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Haddonfield Plays & Players will present Monty Python's Spamalot weekends from Friday, January 19 to Saturday, February 3, 2024. Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur's quest to find the Holy Grail. Inspired by the classic comedy film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. With a mashup of several Monty Python bits, this show will not only delight the Monty Python enthusiast, but any fan of musical comedies.

Aspire PAC presents "Into The Woods". (FAIR LAWN, NJ) -- The cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, the slipper as pure as gold…these are the things you must remember to find as you go Into the Woods, which will be presented by Aspire Performing Arts Company from January 19-21, 2024 at the Fair Lawn Community Center.

Players Guild of Leonia presents "Deathtrap". (LEONIA, NJ) -- Players Guild of Leonia, New Jersey's oldest continuing community theater group (since 1919), presents their first show of 2024 – the comedy thriller Deathtrap weekends from January 19 to February 4, 2024. With plot twists aplenty, Deathtrap tells the story of a has-been playwright, Sidney Bruhl, who is desperate to regain his prestige, and his young protégé, Clifford Anderson, who unwittingly offers an intriguing solution. How desperate remains a secret, and to tell you any more would be a crime!

The North Star Theater Company presents "The Full Monty". American Theater Group Continues Free Monday Night Play Readings with new play "Des Trucs". (RAHWAY, NJ) -- American Theater Group (ATG), a professional theater company in Central New Jersey, will continue its free Monday night play readings on January 22, 2024 with Des Trucs by JD Scalzo at Hamilton Stage in Rahway at 7:00pm. This will be first public reading of the drama.

New Jersey's rich arts community has a unique opportunity to engage their audiences with a once-in-a-generation initiative. RevolutionNJ, a collaboration between the New Jersey Historical Commission and the non-profit Crossroads of the American Revolution, is the state's official commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States in 2026.
