Why Tyrese Haliburton left the game vs. the Celtics with 6 minutes to play in 3rd quarter

UPDATE: Tyrese Haliburton was taken out of Tuesday's game with six minutes remaining in the third quarter with TNT's Allie LaForce reporting that he is on a minutes restriction after missing 10 of the previous 11 games with a hamstring injury. The Pacers were trailing 91-86 when Haliburton came out.

Haliburton played 22 minutes, scoring 13 points on 5-of-16 shooting and 10 assists.

BOSTON -- All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton is available and center Myles Turner will likely play in the Pacers' nationally televised game against the Celtics on Tuesday night. However, but second-year wing Bennedict Mathurin will not be available, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said in his pregame press conference.

Haliburton, who was elected to start in the All-Star Game coming up in Indianapolis on Feb. 18, has missed 10 of the last 11 games with a strained left hamstring. He said Monday after practice he expected to play depending on how his body reacted in the morning. Carlisle said his body has reacted well.

Turner, the Pacers' second-leading scorer on the season, missed Sunday's game against the Grizzlies with mid-back spasms. Carlisle said he will most likely be good to go.

Mathurin will miss a game for the first time season with a sprained right big toe, however. Carlisle said he injured the toe against the Grizzlies on Sunday. Mathurin did some shooting after practice on Monday after the media was allowed in, but Carlisle said Tuesday that he did not actually practice.

"He didn't do anything," Carlisle said. "It doesn't sound like this is going to be awfully long, but you just don't know with toes. We had the thing with (Chris Duarte) last year and the year before. They can linger. I don't know the exact description of this. There was a play where he awkwardly tripped and jammed his toe in the second half. He came up limping a little bit and I think he only took more shot after that. So we'll see. We certainly hope this isn't more than a one game thing."

Mathurin is averaging 14.3 points per game this season on 45.6% shooting off the bench. He was named one of the 10 sophomores who will take part in the Rising Stars event on All-Star weekend. He was first-team All-Rookie last season when he scored the third most points of any Pacers rookie in history.

Pacers guard T.J. McConnell (illness) was previously reported out.
