Check out Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke on Saturday night for the annual Rock the Rink affair, which is a benefit for Duxbury Youth Hockey, featuring area rock band The Waves. Also, note on Friday, Nickanee's in Providence, Rhode Island, remembers Fall River artist and designer Sarah Good, who took up guitar in her 40s and was soon fronting her own Americana band, The Goods, which had a good run, before breast cancer took her far too young a few years ago – Neal and Friends headline the list of her many musical cohorts performing at the tiny pub and saluting this indelible character.

Valerie Barretto sings at Tavern on the Wharf in Plymouth.
SATURDAY, Feb. 10: Swinging Steaks make Plymouth return
As of Sunday afternoon, there are but eight tickets left for the Swinging Steaks' triumphant return to the Spire Center in Plymouth, so that will be a sell out for the South Shore's country-rock icons. But there is country-rock to be had in Boston, where Cody Jinks shares the bill at MGM Music Hall in Boston with The Turnpike Troubadours. That Forbert and Freedy double-header of tunes hits Club Passim in Cambridge. Classic Vibe is the rock band at The Next Page Cafe in Weymouth.
