1. Popular on Philo: “Tyler Perry’s Sistas”

Starring KJ Smith, Mignon Von, Ebony Obsidian, Novi Brown, and Devale Ellis, “Tyler Perry’s Sistas” follows a close group of women living, working, and pursuing relationships in Atlanta. Throughout the show, they lean on their friendship in order to tackle the many changes and challenges life sends their way.

2. Returning this year: “Yellowstone”

The popular Paramount Network drama series “Yellowstone” is expected to return this November, 2024 with new episodes. Starring Kevin Costner, Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Cole Hauser, and more, the show follows an influential Montana family, the Duttons, who migrated to the area back in the 1800s (as seen in the prequel series, “1883,″ available on Paramount+) and have since put down roots on the country’s largest ranch property. Conflicts include land disagreements, family dynamics, local politics, and more.

3. Crime Drama: “All the Queen’s Men”

BET+ series “All the Queen’s Men” follows a nightclub industry leader who goes by the name of Marilyn “Madam” DeVille. Backed by a group of male dancers, she navigates the (at times) dark world of nightlife, especially when there’s money to be made.

4. Emmy Award winner: “RuPaul’s Drag Race”

Recently awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program in January of 2024, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a platform for drag artists to compete for $200,000 and the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar. The series follows a cast of talented performers as they compete in various tests of drag ability — including fashion design, improv comedy, sitcom acting, live musical performances, and more.

5. Comedy: “Portlandia”

Co-created by Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, “Portlandia” is a satirical sketch comedy series both set in and based on Portland, Oregon. The show leans on the area’s reputation and stereotypes, portraying the quirky Pacific Northwest city via absurd skits about stuck-up music fans, particular bookstore owners, the town goths, artists, uptight animal lovers, and more, with many recurring bits to love.

6. Docuseries: “Secrets of Playboy”

A&E documentary “Secrets of Playboy” sits down with the women who lived and/or worked in Hugh Hefner’s notorious mansion and clubs, unpacking the nefarious activities that he disguised as glamor and free-spirited fun. Hefner’s longtime girlfriend Holly Madison of “The Girls Next Door” (also on Philo), 1970s girlfriend Sondra Theodore, “Bunny Mother” PJ Masten, and more are interviewed, all sharing their intense stories of abuse within the Playboy empire.

7. Reality show: “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”
