The Amazing Acro-Cats are in town now, getting ready to do things that most cats do not.

1. The Amazing Acro-Cats is a live stage show involving feline performers. They play the cowbell, piano, and drums. They jump through hoops, and even ride a skateboard.

2. Samantha Martin made this all happen a few decades ago. As a kid, she would train rats and debuted the Acro-Rats show. This evolved into learning how to train cats, as she wanted a career in training animals for film and TV.

3. “People think cats can’t be trained,” she said. “So I put this show on and show them all the amazing things these cats do.” She travels with 12-20 cats at a time. They are orphans, former strays or rescues and are now up for adoption. Since 2009, her nonprofit — Rock Cats Rescue — has found forever homes for 325 of these cuties.

4. Some of the cats are so well trained (by positive reinforcement) that they land gigs for commercial work in Illinois and Georgia.

5. The Amazing Acro-Cats will be in Orlando from Jan. 24–28 at the Orlando Family Stage at Loch Haven Park.
