Renowned animal trainer Samantha Martin, from The Amazing Acro-Cats, gave a demonstration Tuesday on how to train cats — with the help of her feline performers and some adoptable kittens from SPCA Florida  — at the Orlando Cat Cafe in Clermont. The Amazing Acro-Cats are a troupe of former orphan domestic house cats that now take the stage as a unique traveling show. Martin guides them through feats of agility, such as riding skateboards, jumping through hoops, ringing bells and even joining together to make up an all-cat band.

Featured on national TV shows including “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Animal Planet’s “Puppy Bowl” and Netflix’s “Cat People,” the show at the Orlando Family Stage in Loch Haven Park has multiple performances scheduled between today and Jan. 28. During the event, Martin showed how to use positive behavior training techniques, reinforced with treats and a clicker to cue behaviors that she wants to teach her furry friends. “Any cat, at any age can be taught new tricks, it just take 10 minutes a day.” said Martin.
