Jessica Pratt announces new album, ‘Here in the Pitch’

Jessica Pratt has announced her fourth album, Here in the Pitch, set for release on May 3rd via Mexican Summer. Additionally, she has shared the lead single, ‘Life Is’.

Sharing news of the LP on Instagram, Pratt wrote, “The turning of the tide is upon us, friends. My latest album, Here in the Pitch, is out May 3rd, 2024. Many seasons came and went while I built this thing through fear, tears and daydreams. Today, you can listen to the first song, ‘Life Is’.”

The record will mark Pratt’s first full-length release in five years, following on from Quiet Signs in 2019. Despite being recorded in Brooklyn, her upcoming release charts her obsession with the “dark side of the Californian dream.”

The announcement is accompanied by the release of the lead single ‘Life Is’. Over tentative percussion and soft strings, Pratt’s distinctive voice echoes, offering a gorgeous and promising first glimpse at Here in the Pitch. “Time is time and time and time again,” she sings, “And what would you say if you can’t get out of here?”

The music video for the single was co-directed by Pratt and Colby Droscher. Shot in New York, it overlays shots of the singer with bright lights and buildings.

Pratt has also announced plans to head out on the road this summer. After her appearance at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, she will embark upon a series of dates across Europe with Joanna Sternberg. A solo tour of the United States will also follow.
