February brings Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year celebrations, including a Year of the Dragon event at USC Pacific Asia Museum, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 10. Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum events: Get yourself a “Ticket Through Time” and learn about Los Angeles Jewish history in late-19th and early-20th centuries with journalist Edmon J. Rodman, 2-3:30 p.m. Feb. 11. Study the artifacts and ephemera they left behind, from prayer books, movies, marriage contracts, photos, letters and restaurant menus. Then, join a “Love Letters Tour,” noon-3 p.m. Feb. 17-18. Proud Stutter’s Comic Book Reading and Community Event: Maya Chupkov reads from Proud Stutter’s new comic book, 6 p.m. Feb. 12. Copies of “Life of Verbal Turbulence” will be available for the suggested donation of $30 to the nonprofit. Proceeds benefit the production of Proud Stutter’s documentary on Californians who stutter. Black History Parade and Festival: The city of Pasadena presents the 42nd annual event, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Feb. 17. Rubel Castle: The Rubel Castle is an elaborate folk-art medieval castle in the foothills of Glendora, with five-story tall towers solidly built out of junk and river rocks by the late Michael Rubel and his friends.
