Skeletal remains found near a Kamloops landfill have been identified and belonged to a man who had been missing since February 2020.

Officers responded to a report of skeletal remains found near the Mission Flats landfill on Feb. 25, according to an RCMP news release.

RCMP and the BC Coroners Service have determined the remains belong to a 41-year-old man who was seen on Feb. 19, 2020. Jason Redhead had been reported missing by RCMP on May 28.

No foul play is suspected in his disappearance or death.

Police have notified Redhead's family.

“A media release was issued by the Kamloops RCMP detachment requesting public assistance in June of 2020 after police were notified of his disappearance and other efforts to locate him had been exhausted,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

“We hope that his discovery brings some small amount of closure to those who have looked for him.”
