Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were spotted enjoying a date night dinner Thursday evening in Austin, Texas ahead of Markle’s Friday keynote speech at the SXSW Festival. The city has a reputation for outstanding Tex-Mex cuisine, but queso wasn’t the main event for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Instead, their choice of restaurant served up a heaping dish of nostalgia.

The duo reportedly dined at a corner table at Soho House Austin, the local iteration of the international private members club. In a way, it's also where the whole Meghan-and-Harry saga began: The club’s London outpost was the scene of the couple’s very first date in July 2016, where they bonded over drinks, the beginning of a whirlwind relationship that would capture the world’s attention and change the British monarchy.

In his memoir Spare, Harry recalled thinking Markle was “heart-attack beautiful” on that first date at Soho House London, which Markle had suggested for their meeting due to its status as “her headquarters whenever she came to London.”

Despite Harry being half an hour late after getting stuck in traffic, it went well. So well, in fact, that they met there again the very next night for their second date.

And now, nearly seven years, two children, and one exit from the British working royal circle later, the Sussexes enjoyed the Texan version of the club.

A witness told People that on Thursday Meghan and Harry “were happy and in great spirits. Harry was very animated throughout the dinner. They were super low-key and seemed happy to be around the upbeat vibes at the lively venue.”

Markle is scheduled to appear on a panel for SXSW’s opening day, in honor of International Women’s Day. She’ll take the stage alongside Katie Couric, Brooke Shields, author Nancy Wang Yuen, and The 19th editor Errin Haines for a discussion titled “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead On and Off the Screen.”

As an actor, advocate, and mother, the topic is one that’s long been familiar to Markle.

On Thursday, Markle’s Archewell Foundation, Moms First, and the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media released the findings of a study on modern portrayals of motherhood in television. The study found that in a vast majority of plotlines, men are portrayed at families’ primary breadwinners, and that the realities of struggles like childcare were largely absent.

“My past experience as an actress, and now today as a producer and mother, have amplified my belief in the critical importance of supporting women and moms both behind the lens and in front of it,” Markle said of the study in a statement. “This report about the portrayal of mothers in entertainment highlights the gaps we need to fill to achieve true representation in the content we create and consume, and I’m honored to support this work through the Archewell Foundation.”
