Josh Homme announces benefit show with Beck and Dave Grohl

Queens of the Stone Age leader Josh Homme has announced a one-night-only Josh Homme and Friends benefit gig featuring Beck, Dave Grohl, and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders.

The desert rock legend took to his band’s official social media accounts to share the show’s details. It will take place on March 20th at The Belasco in Los Angeles, California, in aid of the Sweet Stuff Foundation.

According to the organisation’s website, it was founded in 2013: “To give assistance to career musicians, recording engineers and their families struggling with illness and disability.”

The message continues: “The mission of The Sweet Stuff Foundation is to help our musical community and their families with the vital elements often overlooked during periods of illness and disability. Things like transportation to medical treatment, assistance with childcare and tuition, income assistance, the “last wishes” of a lifetime, and special treatments not covered by insurance.”

Other acts that are to perform at the show later in the month include Bill Burr, Jesse Hughes, The Kills, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sarah Silverman, St. Vincent, and Justin Willman. Tickets go on sale on March 8th at 10am PST.

In December 2023, Homme performed as part of a star-studded Music Saves Lives benefit gig for suicide prevention. It took place on December 4th at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hill, California, and saw the likes of Richie Kotzen, Julia Lage, Kevin Martin, Billy Morrison, Jonathan Mover, Orianthi, and Brett Scallions, as well as others, perform acoustic sets.

Elsewhere, Homme recently reflected on his long friendship with Grohl, calling it “one of the longest romances I’ve had that’s worked.”

He added, “He’s such a good guy, but I also love his dark side.”
