A Florida man appears to have shot his girlfriend in the head in the process of taking his own life on Wednesday.

Police in Miami-County Dade arrived at a south Florida home Wednesday to find an unidentified male dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, according to Local 10 news.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue workers declared the alleged shooter dead on the scene.

The woman he shot — who called 911 — was rushed to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in stable condition.

The couple was reportedly having a discussion of some sort when the shooting occurred around 4 a.m. It’s unclear if they were arguing.

Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said the same bullet seems to have struck both victims.

“It appears that this individual took his own life and, in the process, almost took his girlfriend’s life as well,” Zabaleta reportedly said.

The unidentified woman wounded in the shooting reportedly has four children under the age of 13 from previous relationships. They were in the home at the time of the shootings, according to local media.

Zabaleta, who’s both a detective and police department spokesman, couldn’t be reached for comment.
