NI traffic alerts: Co Down road reopens after crash

The Belfast Road in Saintfield has now re-opened following an earlier road traffic collision.

The Belfast Road is closed between Saintfield and Temple following a road traffic collision today. The PSNI advised motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

The Woodlough Road, Dungannon, has fully reopened to motorists following an earlier road traffic collision.  
A PSNI spokesperson confirmed the update and thanked motorists for their patience. 

The M1 near Dungannon at junction 15 Belfast bound is closed after a multi-vehicle crash. 
A police spokesperson said: "The Woodlough Road in Dungannon is currently to Belfast bound traffic due to a road traffic collision. Diversions are in place at the Granville turn off, Eglish Road and Killbraken Road. Drivers should avoid the area and seek an alternative route for their journey." 

Watson Street in Portadown has been closed while firefighters deal with a blaze at a house in the area.
Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

There has been a crash on the A2 Shore Road in Newtownabbey at the Glenville Road junction.
The road is down to one lane in each direction and police are at the scene.
Motorists are advised to expect delays.

The Upper Newtownards Road in east Belfast was closed in the early hours of this morning between its junctions with Knockburn Park and Castleview Road due to an underground fire. 

One lane of the road has now reopened, but police are advising motorists to expect delays this morning.

Adelaide Street in Belfast City Centre is currently closed to traffic due to a road traffic collision. Delays are expected and drivers should avoid the area and seek an alternative route for their journey if possible.

Police have closed a road in south Belfast after the report of a substance being located. 

The Carolan Road area of Belfast has been closed this afternoon (Wednesday 24th April) for the attendance of emergency service colleagues. 
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative main routes for their journey.

Annacloy Road in Downpatrick is currently closed due to a road traffic collision. Traffic is being diverted at the Belfast Road and police are asking road users to avoid the area where possible.

The incident on the Old Omagh Road, Ballygawley – just off the A5 – was reported to the NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) at approximately 4pm.

A road closure is in place at Ballygawley roundabout onto the Omagh Road in Co Tyrone.
According to the PSNI, a diversion is in place through Ballygawley town centre.

The PSNI have confirmed that a man has died after a two-vehicle crash on the Magheramore Road, outside Ballycastle, yesterday.
He has been named as 44-year-old Benny McIlhatton from the Loughguile area.
Inspector Cherith Adair from the PSNI's Collision Investigation Unit said: “The Magheramore Road, which was closed for a number of hours, has now reopened to traffic.
“A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything or to anyone with dash-cam or other footage that could assist police, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Sprucefield on 101, quoting reference number 1270 20/04/24.”

The Magheramore Road in Ballycastle has been closed by police due to a serious road traffic collision. Diversions are in place at Islanddarragh Road and Capecastle Road. Drivers are advised to avoid the area at this time and seek an alternative route for their journey.

The collision on the A1 this evening has now been cleared and traffic in the area is returning to normal.

There has been a three-vehicle collision on the A1 northbound near Newry, just after the border. Early reports suggest debris is affecting both carriageways.

There are currently long delays and road users are being advised to find an alternative route where possible.

Vehicles involved in a crash on the Sydenham Bypass have now been recovered and all lanes are running again. But traffic remains busy on many of the key Belfast routes.

There has been a two-vehicle collision on the Sydenham Bypass this evening. The incident occurred on the outer lane after Dee Street, in the Belfast-bound direction. It is passable in the inner lane but delays are to be expected.

Traffic is also busy on the M1 leaving Belfast towards junction three, the M1 approaching Broadway, the M3 Lagan Bridge towards Sydenham Bypass, the Westlink towards York St, leaving the M2 at Nelson Street, the A55 Stockmans Lane in both directions, Boucher Road towards Stockmans Lane, Upper Newtownards Road towards Dundonald and the A2 approaching Tillysburn towards Sydenham Bypass.

The Limavady Road in Derry is now closed in both directions following a road traffic collision. Police advised that Limavady-bound traffic is being diverted along the Glendermott Road, and city-bound traffic is being diverted via Broomhill Avenue. 

The Ballycairn Road in Coleraine is currently closed in both directions following a road traffic collision near the junction with Castlerock Road. The PSNI has asked road users to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
