Winner! $2 million Powerball ticket sold in Tampa

Monday's winning numbers were 10, 17, 20, 39, 44, Powerball 16 and Power Play 3X.

TAMPA, Fla. — Someone is now the lucky winner of a $2 million Powerball ticket, and it just so happens they bought it in Tampa!

While nobody won Monday's $645 million jackpot, someone won the second-tier prize of $1 million at the Stop & Save Food Store located at 4801 Clewis Ave. Due to the ticketholder adding the Power Play option, they increased their prize to $2 million.

Monday's winning numbers were 10, 17, 20, 39, 44, Powerball 16 and Power Play 3X.

In addition, five $1 million tickets were won in Maryland, Minnesota, Virginia and two in Texas.

The next Powerball drawing is on Wednesday with an estimated Jackpot of $687 million and a cash value of $327.3 million.

If a winner matches all five numbers and the Powerball, they have the option to take the full jackpot paid out over 30 years, or a smaller cash payout. Winners almost always take the cash option.

Even with the smaller lump sum payout, federal taxes will take money out those winnings, and some states also tax big lottery prizes. Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The largest jackpot ever won in Florida was back in January 2016 at $1.586 billion. That's the third largest in the game's history tied with tickets won in California and Tennessee.

The Powerball drawing takes place live at 10:59 p.m. Eastern every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million.
