CT convicted felon found with stolen firearm, high-capacity magazine

Police in Bridgeport arrested a convicted felon found with a stolen firearm and a high-capacity magazine last week.

Officers seized a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol from 32-year-old Bridgeport resident Boysie Vega during an investigation in the east side of the city last Thursday, according to the Bridgeport Police Department. Police did not release additional information on the initial report that led to their investigation.

According to police, the stolen firearm was loaded with a 17-round magazine.

Vega, a previously convicted felon, faces charges of criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine, stealing a firearm, illegal transfer of a firearm and violation of a protective order.

Following his arrest, Vega was arraigned in Bridgeport Superior Court, where a judge ordered he be held on a $150,000 bond, according to court records.

Vega, who remains in custody, is due back in court on April 2.

“The Bridgeport Police Patrol Division remains committed to ensuring the safety of our community,” Scott Appleby, director of the Bridgeport Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, said in a statement Tuesday. “This arrest highlights the dedication and professionalism of our officers, who diligently investigate all calls.”
