For Alan O’Rourke, owner and founder of Ruark Audio, it was rocking around his nan’s front room in Edmonton, north London, to music playing on her old radiogram that inspired the design of the new R810 speaker.

“As a kid I fondly remember the weekend visits to my dad’s mum, which is where my love of music originally came from,” he recalls. “She had a beautiful radiogram and she played Rodgers and Hammerstein [the musical theatre team behind Oklahoma!, The King and I and The Sound of Music] all the time. As kids we knew most of the songs off by heart and had great fun dancing and performing, keeping my family entertained,” he says.
