It feels as if the entire NBA world is collectively recovering from Monday night’s dunk from Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Edwards’ monster slam over the head of John Collins of the Utah Jazz was a sight to behold and immediately received a ton of praise from players and icons from the present and past of the NBA.
Magic Johnson had to share his praise for Edwards and did so on Twitter Tuesday morning.
“Anthony Edwards is the greatest in-game dunker in the NBA today and one of the most exciting and electrifying players because of his athleticism!” Johnson said.
He added: “His dunk reminds me of the best in-game dunkers I played against – Dr. J, Michael Jordan, and Dominique Wilkins!”

Earning that sort of comparison from someone like Johnson is a massive honor for Edwards.
But the Los Angeles Lakers legend isn’t the only person calling Edwards an in-game dunker unlike any other.
He has earned that sort of praise throughout his career but his dunk on Monday is now the most dominant and definitive one since joining the league in 2020.
It also comes at a very pivotal time for Edwards, when he is gaining more attention than ever before.
Edwards has been acquiring interest, fans, and praise for the last several seasons but this year has been on a whole other level.
It all started in the summer when he was a leader for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup.
When the regular season began, Edwards was in charge of helping his Timberwolves achieve a lot of success.
So far, he has done that and Minnesota is the second-best team in the West with a 47-21 record.
Edwards is now one of the biggest players in the league.
Monday night’s dunk proves that he isn’t afraid of the pressure and expectations that come with that.
