Harry Kane is a doubt for England's double-header with Brazil and Belgium after injuring his ankle on a record-breaking day at Bayern Munich.

Kane collided with a post towards the end of Bayern's 5-2 win at Darmstadt, in which the England captain had earlier grabbed his 31st league goal of the season. He stayed down clutching his left ankle before being substituted.

Bayern cast doubt on whether the skipper would be able to join up with Gareth Southgate's England for their friendly against Brazil at Wembley on Saturday and the following week's clash with Belgium.

'He won't take any risks with the national team,' said Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund.

Kane has scored more than anyone in a debut season in the Bundesliga — overtaking Uwe Seeler. He will be hoping to be fit for his return to North London on April 9 when Bayern take on Arsenal in the Champions League.

The England captain collided with the post in the 82nd minute of the game after trying hammer home the rebound from Jamal Musiala's shot that hit the crossbar.

The collision left Kane sprawled on the floor inside the penalty box with former Tottenham striker immediately calling for treatment.

Team physios attended to his left-leg but were quick to decide that the England star couldn't continue as he gingerly limped back to the dugout.

Choupo-Moting was brought on to replace Kane - with England fans across the world left wondering whether he will be fit enough for international duty.

Kane was due to meet up with Gareth Southgate's Three Lions camp ahead of upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

The games - scheduled to take place on March 23 and March 26 - are England's last round of fixtures before this summer's European Championship.

However, Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed after the match that Kane had twisted his ankle during his collision with the post.

'He collided with the post and twisted his ankle a bit - he had his ankle iced. There's still no diagnosis, we have to wait. I hope it's nothing bad'

Kane put Bayern, who face Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals next month, 2-1 up in stoppage time for the first half.

The England international's header boosted his league tally to 31, more than any player has scored in their first Bundesliga season.

It is also a personal league best for Kane, who scored between Musiala's two goals but was taken off injured after sliding into the post late in the game.

Meanwhile, substitute Serge Gnabry added their fourth goal in the 74th and Mathys Tel got the fifth in stoppage time before Darmstadt's Oscar Vilhelmsson pulled back a goal. Darmstadt had taken a 28th-minute lead with Tim Skarke.

The win lifts Bayern to 60 points in second place, with Leverkusen, on 67, travelling to Freiburg on Sunday.
