Benidorm holiday warning as British tourists could be fined £1,000 over beach ban

British tourists heading to Spain’s golden sandy beaches have been issued an urgent warning as the visit could make a hole in their pockets with hefty fines. 

Those visiting popular beaches like the ones in Benidorm could end up paying a fine of up to £1,700 (2000 euros) for flouting beach laws, such as smoking on the beach.

Most beaches in Benidorm will have signs outlining these rules. In the area, there are other rules too, Birmingham Live reports.

There is a lesser-known regulation that prohibits beach access from midnight to 7am, with fines ranging from 750 to 1,200 euros (approximately £1,027). 

These rules are enforced for safety purposes and to facilitate beach cleaning, according to local authorities.

People are not allowed to put down parasols or towels to save a spot for later - if done, it could cost the visitors around £128 (150 euros). 

Playing ball games outside of the right areas is also prohibited.  In another rule, swimming in the sea when a red warning is flagged could lead to a fine of approximately £855 (1000 euros)

If you take off your clothes on a beach that's not for nudists, it could cost you £556 (650 euros).

Urinating in the sea is also prohibited and could result in a fine of £128 (150 euros). Consuming alcohol on the beach may incur a fine of £641 (750 euros).

Being shirtless or wearing only swimwear on the beach promenade or in town could result in a £256 (300 euro) fine.  Additionally, sitting or sunbathing within six metres of the sea has recently been banned to facilitate easier access to and from the water
