ST. LOUIS – It was a violent weekend in the City of St. Louis. Police are investigating around half a dozen shootings within a 24-hour timespan.

In total, at least five people were shot in St. Louis City since Sunday.

The most recent shooting happened just before 2:30 a.m. Monday. Investigators say a man was shot in the chest in the Wells-Goodfellow neighborhood. It happened near the intersection of Maffitt Avenue and Goodfellow Boulevard. It’s unclear if any suspects were in custody.

About 24 hours prior to this, another shooting happened in the Wells Goodfellow neighborhood. Two men were shot, and one is fighting for his life. Police say a 20-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and is in critical condition. A 27-year-old man was shot in the foot and is expected to survive.

FOX 2 has learned that the victims in that latter shooting were possibly fired upon by people inside a dark-colored sedan that left the scene.

Around the same time Sunday morning, a 24-year-old woman was shot in the leg on Washington Avenue. It happened off 13th Street at a restaurant on that block.

The victim told police she got into an argument with a restaurant employee. The employee called her boyfriend who came the restaurant and showed a handgun. The victim walked outside to leave, and her 41-year-old boyfriend allegedly followed her.

The woman heard gunshots and was struck in the back of her left thigh. EMS responded to the scene. The suspect was still there when officers arrived and was no longer armed when police arrested him.

And just after 3 a.m. Sunday, police say a woman shot a 54-year-old man in the area of Broadway and Bellerive. Officers found the victim slumped at the wheel of his car with an upper-body gunshot wound. The victim stated he was shot by his girlfriend, then the victim drove to on Jefferson Avenue off Winnebago Street to call police. EMS took him to the hospital in stable condition.
