The driver of an electric scooter was killed on Wednesday afternoon in a crash with a car in Union County, officials said.
The victim, a Roselle resident, was driving the scooter on North Wood Avenue in Linden when he was struck by a car that was trying to make a left turn onto East Gibbons Street, Linden Police Capt. Christopher Guenther said.
Police and firefighters arrived on the scene about 2:30 p.m. and found the man trapped under the vehicle. The car was lifted and the victim was brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
The victim’s identity has not been released. The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash, police said. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
