(FOX40.COM) — Three people were involved in a fatal shooting that left two people dead and another in critical condition, according to the Yuba City Police Department.
Around 1:56 a.m. on Saturday, the Yuba City Police Department (YCPD) responded to Northgate Terrace Apartments located at 1290 Northgate Drive for reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police said they found a 21-year-old man with several gunshot wounds and a deceased 34-year-old woman inside an apartment. Another 36-year-old man was also found dead inside of a nearby vehicle.
“It appears to be a tragic case of domestic violence, not a random act of violence,” YCPD said.
The circumstances of the deaths are under investigation, however, police said that the deceased man and woman were “in a previous dating relationship.” The man was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, indicative of suicide, according to police.
Officials said the extent of the woman’s injuries is undetermined and her death is being treated as a homicide.
YCPD reported that the suspect and victims in this case have been identified, but their names are being withheld until their families have been notified.
