Man in custody after pregnant woman stabbed to death in Macomb County

Sterling Heights police find empty apartment, blood in hallway during welfare check

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A man is in custody after a pregnant woman was stabbed to death in Macomb County.

At 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024, Sterling Heights police went to an apartment in the area of 18 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found blood in the hallway. Nobody was inside the apartment.

Not long after the welfare check, Clinton Township dispatch received a 911 call from the area of Harper Avenue and Glenwood Street for reports of a man covered in blood. When police arrived, they found a pregnant woman who had been stabbed multiple times.

The woman, who police say is a 30-year-old woman from Sterling Heights, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. The man was taken into custody.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sterling Heights Detective Bureau at 586-446-2825.
