Alabama storms lead to reports of damage, power outages

Multiple agencies around Alabama are assessing damage from early morning high winds and thunderstorms Friday.

Several counties throughout north Alabama are reporting downed trees and power lines, as well as flooding.

Here is the latest on weather conditions

As of about 8:30 a.m., Alabama Power reported about 6,400 customers without power, with concentrations in Franklin and Winston counties.

About 1,000 customers were affected in Huntsville, according to Huntsville Utilities. Some schools delayed opening Friday morning.

Harvest Volunteer Fire-Rescue were on the scene of a water rescue of a vehicle early this morning. No injuries were reported.

Vina High School in Franklin County is closed today due to high wind damage to the roof.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, agencies have responded to multiple areas due to downed trees and power lines around Hartselle in multiple locations.

Those include the Highway 31 area, Barkley Bridge Road, Powell Road and Cedar Creek Road. A tree fell on a home on Guy Roberts Road.
