ORDINARY ANGELS Star Hilary Swank Says Having Twins is ‘Double the Joy’

By Movieguide® Contributor

ORDINARY ANGELS star Hilary Swank is in love with her twin daughters.

In a recent interview with TODAY, Swank discusses when she knew she wanted to be a mom, what it was like having kids later in life and the joys of motherhood.

“Even when I was a little girl, I was like, ‘Yeah. I want to be a mom someday.’ Then, you know, I also had this career that was like a baby to me that I wanted to give my all to. And you know finding the right partner and all of that,” she began.

Because Swank focused on her career, she didn’t become a mother until later in her life, but she is beyond blessed by the journey.

“It absolutely is,” she said when asked if being a mom is a blessing. “And you know, we didn’t have them younger, so I don’t know what that would have been like then. But I think there is something for me right now that I am able to give my focus to them that I wouldn’t have been able to at that point. I am in a blessed position because I can say, ‘Oh, I’m gonna go back to work now, or I’m going to take this time off now.'”

She shares twin daughters, Aya and Ohm, who are almost 1, with her husband, Philip Schneider. While life with two little ones is challenging, she knows she’ll be grateful for it.

“But I know that the sleepless nights are hard and when you have one that might sleep through the night, the other one’s not, so it’s kind of this trade-off every night,” Swank said.

She told PEOPLE, “But I know this is also a season, and it too will pass, and I try and remind myself that there’s going to be a day when I’m like, ‘Oh, I’d love to wake up right now and just hold you.’ So just trying and hold on to that.”

“I don’t know what it’s like to have a singleton, you know, so, it’s like double the fun, double the joy, double the love,” Swank said. “I mean not just because they’re twins, but there’s just so much good in everyday. I just love it so much.”

The actress recently starred in the faith-based movie ORDINARY ANGELS.

“I mean, you know, it’s like this is real life. It’s real life, and it’s all captured in this capsule of two hours that deals with so many issues, including organ transplants and the importance of being an organ donor and how that can save a life,” she told Movieguide®. “And so all of those issues were part of why I wanted to be in this film.”

Part of Movieguide®’s review reads:

ORDINARY ANGELS is a very exciting, heartrending movie. The movie opens with a little baby girl being born to Ed Schmitt and his wife. Regrettably, some three years later, the mother dies. Then, Ed finds out his young daughter, Michelle, is dying of a failing kidney. Sharon, a woman with low self-esteem and a drinking problem working in a local beauty shop, decides to help. She holds a fundraiser for Michelle and helps Ed with his hospital bills, but Ed doesn’t trust her. Things come to a head when Ed tries to rush Michelle to a hospital in a blizzard to get her a kidney transplant.ORDINARY ANGELS is a very exciting movie. It’s also extremely heartrending because it shows many people volunteering to help this little girl. Even the television station in the small community helps and asks people for prayer. Frankly, very few movies have so well integrated Christian faith, values and entertainment together like ORDINARY ANGELS. That said, MOVIEGUIDE® suggests light caution for younger children because of the mother’s death and moments where the little girl vomits blood.
