Sister and brother found shot dead in car

A 15-year-old girl and her 24-year-old brother were found shot to death inside a parked car in the Roseland neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the scene in the 200 block of West 109th Place just after 12:30 a.m., after a ShotSpotter report of 18 rounds fired. Officers found the victims with multiple gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 24-year-old victim has been identified as Terry Player. The teen has been identified as Terri Player.

According to unconfirmed police dispatch reports, three people walked up to their car and started shooting.

The passenger side window of the car they were in was shattered, and there were at least four bullet holes in the door.

Rev. Michael Pfleger said Terri Player was student at St. Sabina Academy, a Catholic elementary school in Auburn Gresham, as recently as 2022.

"Obviously, I'm greater saddened because it's a graduate who went to our school, but this whole city should be weeping whenever a child is shot or killed. What's wrong with us? When did that become normal?" Pfleger said. "Chicago, we are getting a preview of what is coming this summer. So are we going to just keep saying how horrible it is, or are we going to get a plan?"

After the shooting, violence interrupters from the Peackeepers program handed out flyers with information about how to stay safe, since the Player siblings might have been sitting ducks in their car.

No arrests have been made. A city camera in the area was down Tuesday night.

Area 2 detectives were investigating.
