A Fort Myers man was sentenced to two years in prison for unlicensed contracting and fraud crimes targeting Hurricane Ian victims.According to the State Attorney's Office, 32-year-old Rolando Osorio agreed to repair lanais at residents' homes throughout Lee County after Hurricane Ian in late 2022.Osorio took money from the victims and never returned to do the work. Lacking a general contractor or specialty structure contracting license, he used the license number of a licensed contractor without permission on at least one of his contracts. His fraud scheme continued through the spring of 2023.Osorio was found guilty and sentenced Thursday for second-degree grand theft, criminal use of personal identification and 12 counts of contracting without a license during the state of emergency caused by Hurricane Ian.The Fort Myers man's two-year prison sentence is followed by 10 years of probation and he is required to pay more than $67,000 in reparation.
